Röstaus IPE Knock Box
Our knock box is made of Brazilian Walnut, Ipe (pronounced ee-pay) wood. This wood is typically found in South America and some parts of Central America. It is one of the densest hardwoods available, three times harder than cedar and Ipe is so dense that it doesn't float in water. The heartwood can vary in color from reddish brown, to a more yellowish olive brown or darker blackish brown; sometimes with contrasting darker brown/black stripes. In certain species, there are powdery yellow deposits within the wood that appears satin like. Ipe is a beautiful lustrous wood that has the durability desired in a knock box.
