This coffee grown in the rich, volcanic soil of Kiambu on the southern slopes of the Aberdare range. Roughly 760 smallholder farmers deliver to Gathiruini factory, one of 13 wet mills comprising Komothai Coffee Growers Co-operative Society. Coffee is the principle economic activity in this region supplemented by dairy farming.
